Abdulaziz Umar Ganduje, son of former Kano State Governor and former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has returned to the ruling party after a brief stint with the New Democratic Congress (NDC).

Abdulaziz’s return to the APC ends months of speculation surrounding his political future and comes shortly after the close of the party’s nomination sales.
The former NDC House of Representatives aspirant’s decision to rejoin the APC is being viewed as a strategic political realignment rather than an immediate return to the electoral contest.
His return is also expected to reinforce the Ganduje political structure in Dawakin Tofa and strengthen the APC’s grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The development adds another dimension to Kano State’s longstanding political rivalry between the Ganduje-led APC bloc and the Kwankwasiyya movement associated with former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
Political observers say Abdulaziz’s return could further intensify the competition between the two major political blocs as preparations for the 2027 elections gather momentum.
