The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the August 15 Osun State governorship election, Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, has taken a swipe at Governor Ademola Adeleke, expressing surprise over the governor’s recent remarks directed at President Bola Tinubu.
Speaking during his campaign rally in Irewole Local Government Area on Tuesday , Oyebamiji said he was astonished to hear Governor Adeleke criticizing and allegedly threatening the President despite previous claims that he was the Presidency’s preferred candidate.
“I am surprised to see Governor Adeleke lamenting on the podium. I thought he said he was the preferred candidate of the Presidency. It is funny seeing him now trying to blackmail the same President,” Oyebamiji said.
The APC flagbearer argued that Adeleke’s recent comments indicate that the governor is already feeling the pressure ahead of the August 15 poll and is apprehensive about the outcome of the election.
According to Oyebamiji, the governor’s reactions have further strengthened the APC’s confidence that the electorate is ready for a change in leadership.
He, however, appealed to APC supporters across the state to remain peaceful, law-abiding, and avoid any form of violence throughout the election period.
“Nothing is worth the blood of any Osun citizen. The APC is known as a peaceful and progressive party, and we must continue to conduct ourselves responsibly before, during, and after the election,” he stated.
Oyebamiji concluded by thanking party faithful and residents for their overwhelming support during the campaign tour and urged eligible voters to come out in large numbers on August 15 to vote for the APC.
