The official flag-off ceremony for the reconstruction of the Osogbo–Iwo–Ibadan Road has been scheduled for Thursday, August 6, 2026, marking the commencement of one of the Federal Government’s major road infrastructure projects in the South-West.

The project is expected to improve connectivity between Osun and Oyo states, enhance the movement of people and goods, stimulate economic activities, and reduce travel time along the strategic corridor.

Residents, community leaders, government officials, and other stakeholders are expected to attend the ceremony as work officially begins on the long-awaited road reconstruction.

It will be recalled that the Federal Executive Council (FEC), chaired by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, approved the total reconstruction of the 90.9-kilometre Osogbo–Iwo–Ibadan Road at a cost of ₦114 billion, alongside the 59.2-kilometre Osogbo–Gbongan–Akoda Road at a cost of ₦101 billion. Both projects will be executed using continuous reinforced concrete pavement technology.
