Former Osun State Governor and National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Rauf Aregbesola, has revealed that he has remained faithful to his wife, Sherifat, since their marriage.

Aregbesola made the disclosure while addressing supporters at a recent ADC campaign rally in Ejigbo Local Government Area of Osun State, ahead of the August 15 governorship election.
Speaking in Yoruba, the former governor said his decision to remain committed to his wife was a personal test of discipline and fidelity, adding that his devotion was primarily to God.
According to him, his marital commitment was unusual among many men, and he had used the personal discipline as a basis for making a request from God concerning his political ambition.
Aregbesola reportedly told God: “I told God that next June, we must do it at the Government House.”
His remarks come as political activities intensify across Osun State ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.
The election will feature incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke, who is seeking re-election, alongside All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate Bola Oyebamiji and ADC candidate Najeem Folasayo Salaam, among other contenders.
The Osun governorship election is scheduled to hold on Saturday, August 15, 2026.
