
The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has confirmed that a fire incident occurred at Terminal 2 of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Ikeja, Lagos.
According to the airport authority, the fire broke out within a section of the terminal on Sunday, prompting an immediate emergency response from airport firefighters and other emergency personnel. The swift intervention helped contain the blaze and prevented it from spreading to other parts of the terminal.
FAAN assured the public that the situation has been brought under control, adding that efforts are underway to assess the extent of the damage and determine the cause of the incident.
The authority stated that airport operations and passenger safety remain its top priorities, while relevant agencies continue investigations into the circumstances surrounding the fire.
Although the incident caused concern among passengers and airport users, there was no immediate confirmation of casualties or major disruptions to flight operations at the time of filing this report.
