Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has called on stakeholders in the power sector to urgently address the persistent electricity shortages and end the culture of blackouts in the state.

Sanwo-Olu made the call during a meeting with key stakeholders in the power sector, where he stressed the importance of a stable and reliable electricity supply to the growth and development of Lagos.
The governor said uninterrupted power supply remains critical to building a resilient and productive economy, noting that businesses, industries, households and other economic activities depend heavily on reliable electricity.
He urged stakeholders across the power value chain to work together to find lasting solutions to the challenges affecting electricity generation, transmission and distribution in the state.
According to him, Lagos, as Nigeria’s economic hub, requires a dependable power supply to sustain its rapidly growing population and support businesses and investments.
Sanwo-Olu also emphasised the need for improved coordination among relevant government agencies, electricity distribution companies and other private-sector players to tackle issues contributing to prolonged power outages.
The governor called for practical measures that would improve electricity availability and reduce the impact of blackouts on residents and businesses across Lagos.
He further reiterated the state government’s commitment to working with stakeholders to create an enabling environment for investment in the power sector and ensure that Lagos residents and businesses have access to more dependable electricity.
The meeting forms part of efforts to strengthen collaboration between the Lagos State Government and power-sector stakeholders towards addressing the state’s electricity challenges.
