Nigerian music superstar Davido has called on United States President Donald Trump to pay close attention to the situation in Osun State ahead of the August 15 governorship election.

Davido, in a message directed at Trump, expressed concern over what he described as growing tension in the state and the possibility of violence, intimidation or disruption of the electoral process.
The singer appealed to the United States and the international community to monitor the election and encourage relevant authorities to protect voters and ensure that every vote is respected.
He stressed that residents of Osun State deserve to exercise their constitutional right to vote freely, peacefully and without fear.
Davido said, “We do not want bloodshed. We do not want intimidation. We want peace, transparency, and a free and fair election.”
The musician also directly tagged Trump’s official account, urging the US president to take note of developments in Osun as the state prepares for the crucial governorship poll.
The August 15 election is expected to be keenly contested, with major political parties and their candidates intensifying campaigns and mobilisation across the state.
