Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, is set to arrive in Osun State on Wednesday as political activities intensify ahead of the August 15 governorship election.
The singer, who has been actively supporting the re-election bid of his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke, announced that he will address a press conference at the Imole House in Osogbo to speak on issues bordering on security, the conduct of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and electoral transparency.
His planned briefing comes amid heightened political tension in Osun, with Accord Party and the All Progressives Congress (APC) exchanging accusations over alleged intimidation, violence and preparations for the forthcoming governorship election.
In a brief statement shared on his social media platforms, Davido said:
“I will be having a press conference tomorrow in Imole House, Osogbo, to discuss security, INEC and transparency issues.”
Political observers believe Davido’s intervention underscores the Adeleke camp’s efforts to rally public attention and mobilise support as campaigns enter their final phase ahead of the crucial poll.
