The Ooni of Ife has reportedly pledged ₦100 million in support of Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho’s Iru Ekun Security Network, in a move aimed at strengthening community-based security initiatives across Yorubaland.
The royal endorsement is seen as a significant boost for the emerging security outfit, which is focused on complementing existing security efforts and enhancing the protection of lives and property in the South-West.
The Ooni’s reported financial commitment underscores growing calls by traditional rulers and regional stakeholders for increased collaboration in tackling insecurity through community-driven initiatives.
The development is expected to generate widespread reactions, given Sunday Igboho’s prominent role in advocacy for the security of Yoruba communities and the increasing demand for grassroots security structures in the region.
Further details on the implementation of the initiative and the modalities for the disbursement of the pledged funds are expected to emerge.
