Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has congratulated Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on his re-election, describing the victory as a triumph for democracy and the people of Osun State.

Makinde, who is the Vice-Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, said Adeleke’s victory reflected the confidence the people of Osun have in his administration.
In a statement issued on Sunday by his Chief Press Secretary, Suleimon Olanrewaju, the Oyo governor commended Adeleke for his commitment to good governance and for delivering what he described as significant milestones during his first term.
“It is a victory for democracy and the teeming people of Osun,” Makinde said, while congratulating Adeleke on his re-election.
He also praised the people of Osun State for exercising their democratic rights with firmness and courage, noting that the election had demonstrated that political power ultimately rests with the electorate.
Makinde urged Adeleke to regard his re-election as an opportunity and renewed mandate to do more for the development and wellbeing of the people of Osun State.
The governor further commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for its conduct of the off-cycle governorship election, describing the exercise as an important test ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to him, the outcome of the Osun election should serve as an encouragement for INEC to maintain credibility, transparency and professionalism in future elections.
He therefore urged the electoral commission not to disappoint Nigerians during the 2027 general elections, stressing the importance of ensuring that citizens are allowed to freely exercise their constitutional right to choose their leaders.
