The Osun State Government has warned residents and political stakeholders against acts capable of triggering violence following the recently concluded governorship election in the state.

The government urged citizens to remain calm and law-abiding, stressing that the outcome of the election should not be allowed to create tension or disrupt the peace enjoyed across the state.

It appealed to political parties, candidates, supporters and community leaders to exercise restraint and channel any grievances through lawful and constitutional means.

The government further cautioned against the spread of inflammatory statements, misinformation and provocative messages capable of escalating tension, particularly on social media.

It reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property while calling on security agencies and residents to work together to maintain peace across the state.

The warning comes amid heightened political activities and reactions to the outcome of the Osun governorship election.

The government urged residents to reject violence and prioritise the peace, stability and development of Osun State above political differences.
