A Lagos hairstylist, identified simply as Elvis, has been shot dead by suspected armed robbers around Alesh Market in the Ajah area of Lagos State.

it was learnt that the incident occurred on Saturday evening.
It was gathered that the robbers, whose number could not be immediately ascertained, allegedly attacked people around the market and dispossessed them of their belongings.
Elvis was, however, said to have resisted the robbers during the attack, prompting them to shoot him.
A police source, who confirmed the incident to our correspondent on Tuesday, said Elvis was returning from his place of work when he was attacked.
The source said, “A report was made that he was returning from his place of work when the robbers attacked him. He resisted and was shot in the head. Efforts are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the killing and apprehend the perpetrators.”
The source added that the robbers made away with the belongings of some passersby who were also attacked during the incident.
A resident privy to the incident expressed concern over the security situation in the area, saying residents were increasingly worried about robbery and harassment.
The resident, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said, “There have been frequent cases of harassment and robbery in this area. People are being harassed and robbed of their belongings. People are worried.
“Only if there can be increased police patrols in the area, especially around the market at night, will incidents reduce. The boys are gradually going out of control.”
When contacted on Tuesday, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed the incident.
She said, “Confirmed. No suspect yet. Investigation is ongoing.”
