The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has summoned former Bayelsa State Governor, Timipre Sylva, for questioning over an alleged $14.86 million fraud.

The former governor is expected to appear before investigators as part of an ongoing probe into the alleged financial transaction.

The EFCC’s invitation is understood to form part of efforts by the anti-graft agency to establish the circumstances surrounding the movement and use of the funds.

The development comes as the commission intensifies investigations into alleged financial crimes involving former public officials.

Sylva, who served as Bayelsa State governor from 2007 to 2012, has previously faced corruption-related allegations, which he has denied.
