The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the August 15, 2026 Osun State governorship election, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, has accused the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke of fostering political violence in the state, alleging that no fewer than 25 APC members were killed during the 2022 political crisis.
Speaking during a stakeholders’ engagement ahead of the governorship election, Oyebamiji alleged that the victims lost their lives in politically motivated attacks following the 2022 elections, insisting that justice had yet to be served.
The APC candidate expressed concern over what he described as a growing climate of intimidation and violence in the state, warning that such incidents must not be allowed to recur during the forthcoming governorship poll.
Oyebamiji called on security agencies, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and other relevant authorities to ensure a peaceful, free and credible election on August 15, urging them to protect lives, secure electoral materials and guarantee a level playing field for all political parties.
He maintained that the APC remains committed to a peaceful campaign but insisted that those responsible for previous acts of political violence should be held accountable.
The allegations come amid heightened political activities in Osun as parties intensify campaigns ahead of the governorship election.
