ADC Accuses APC of Using Atiku to Distract Nigerians from Hardship

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of shifting public attention away from Nigeria’s worsening economic and security challenges by concentrating its attacks on opposition figures, particularly former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

In a statement issued by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC alleged that the APC has become more preoccupied with criticising Atiku than addressing the pressing concerns of Nigerians, including rising poverty, insecurity, inflation and the increasing cost of living.

The opposition party argued that rather than providing solutions to the country’s socio-economic challenges, the APC had continued to focus on recent comments made by former President Olusegun Obasanjo about Atiku, while also criticising Catholic bishops who recently raised concerns over the state of the nation during a meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

According to the ADC, the ruling party should channel its energy toward tackling the challenges facing ordinary Nigerians instead of engaging in political attacks against opposition leaders and critics of the government.

The party maintained that Nigerians expect the government to prioritise governance, improve security, stabilise the economy and address the rising hardship across the country rather than engaging in what it described as unnecessary political distractions.
