The self-proclaimed Director-General of the controversial Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC), Adeniyi Adeyemi, has rejected allegations that he single-handedly established the disputed agency, insisting that several Federal Government ministries, departments and agencies acknowledged and interacted with the council.
Adeyemi, who is currently in police custody, made the assertion in a statement issued on Sunday through his legal defence team, led by Festus Akhigbe.
He also called on the House of Representatives ad hoc committee investigating the PFIPC to allow him to personally appear before it, saying he is ready to provide evidence and clarify the circumstances surrounding the council’s operations.
According to his legal team, Adeyemi maintains that the council’s activities involved engagements with multiple government institutions, contrary to claims that it was solely his creation.
