Vice President Kashim Shettima has honoured the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, with the prestigious Alumnus Star of the National Defence College (NDC).
The recognition was conferred on Shaibu during an event at the National Defence College, in acknowledgement of his contributions to Nigeria’s defence and security architecture and his association with the institution.
The Nigerian Army, through its official X handle, shared photographs from the event, showing the Vice President presenting the honour to the Chief of Army Staff.
The Alumnus Star is a distinguished recognition associated with the National Defence College and is bestowed on notable alumni who have attained significant positions and made valuable contributions to national service.
Shaibu, who assumed office as Chief of Army Staff, has continued to oversee the Nigerian Army’s efforts in addressing the country’s security challenges, including counter-insurgency and counter-terrorism operations, as well as other internal security threats.
His recognition by the National Defence College underscores his professional military career and the role of strategic leadership in strengthening Nigeria’s national security.
The event brought together senior military officers, government officials and other stakeholders in the nation’s defence and security sector.
