The Nasarawa State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Aliyu Bello, has dismissed reports alleging he is orchestrating the suspension of former Governor Tanko Al-Makura from the party, describing the claims as “lies, mischief, and evil.”

Bello made the denial while hosting residents of Unguwar Wambai in Lafia, amid growing speculation that the APC Executive Committee (EXCO) of Gayam Ward in Lafia Local Government Area was planning to suspend the former governor.

Whatever is circulating is untrue; it is a lie. Instead of discussing development or progress, some people are focused on mischief and evil,” Bello said. “Am I irrational? Do I not understand the significance of Tanko Al-Makura to me? Do I not value the relationship between us?”

He categorically denied any involvement in such a move, noting that he had been falsely accused of gathering stakeholders to finalize the suspension.

“I have never discussed this matter, nor have I had any dealings with anyone regarding it. Some individuals approached him and falsely claimed that I convened a meeting to discuss his suspension from the party,” he added.

Bello expressed shock at the allegations, stating that he immediately contacted the ward-level party chairman, who also confirmed that no such move was in progress.

“I recited Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un not just three times, but eight times, because this is something I have never heard of in my life. I called the ward chairman, and he swore by God, saying, ‘Wallahi Tallahi, I have never heard of such a thing!’” he stated.

The State Chairman emphasized that no member of the party’s leadership would support such an action against a prominent elder statesman.

Addressing party officials present at the gathering, he asked: “Look at Usman here, an ex-officio member. Would you agree, or would Aliyu Bello agree, to participate in a plot to suspend Al-Makura? None of us would accept that. These rumors were fabricated solely to create enmity and conflict within our ranks.”

Bello urged party members to disregard the reports, labeling them as “false, malicious, and designed to cause harm.”

“You cannot destroy a person’s character in this manner,” he concluded. “Wallahi Tallahi, we remain united.”
