Kano Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening the longstanding relationship between Kano State and the United Kingdom, with a renewed call for increased British investment in the state.

The Governor made this known when he received the British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Pete Vowles, who paid him a familiarisation visit at the Government House, Kano.

During the meeting, Governor Yusuf recalled the historical relationship between Kano and the United Kingdom, noting that both sides share longstanding economic, cultural, and diplomatic connections that could be further developed for mutual benefit.

He described the visit as an opportunity to consolidate the existing relationship and explore new areas of cooperation that would promote economic growth and development in Kano State.

Governor Yusuf particularly solicited the support of the British Government in attracting investors to Kano, stressing that the state has enormous economic potential and opportunities across various sectors.

He noted that increased investment and stronger partnerships would contribute significantly to job creation, business expansion, and improved living standards for the people.

The Governor expressed his administration’s readiness to provide the necessary support and enabling environment for British businesses and development partners interested in investing in the state.

He also emphasised the importance of sustained collaboration between Kano State and the United Kingdom in areas of mutual interest.

Governor Yusuf expressed optimism that the visit would open new opportunities for deeper engagement and mutually beneficial partnerships between the two sides.

In his remarks, the British High Commissioner, H.E. Pete Vowles, paid tribute to the longstanding relationship between Kano and the United Kingdom, while expressing interest in strengthening engagement and exploring opportunities for further cooperation.

The visit underscores the commitment of the Kano State Government to expanding international partnerships, attracting foreign investment, and positioning the state as a destination for business and economic opportunities.
