The campaign spokesman for Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, Pelumi Olajengbesi, has commended the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state for withdrawing its petition challenging the governor’s re-election.
Olajengbesi, in a statement shared on his Facebook page, described the decision as a demonstration of statesmanship and a commitment to the peace, progress, and collective interest of Osun State.
He said the APC had every right to challenge the outcome of the election but chose to withdraw the petition in the interest of the state.
According to him, the development shows that political contests in Osun can be guided by maturity, integrity, and a sense of responsibility rather than desperation for power.
“Not because they did not have the right to challenge the election, but because their decision reflects a commitment to the collective interest, peace, and progress of our state,” he said.
Olajengbesi added that the decision demonstrated that “in Osun, politics does not always have to be driven by desperation for power,” stressing that there was still room for integrity, maturity, and the greater good of the people.
He consequently praised former Osun State Governor Adegboyega Oyetola, APC National Secretary Senator Ajibola Basiru, and former Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Alhaji Bola Oyebamiji, for what he described as their statesmanlike conduct.
“God bless you, His Excellency Adegboyega Oyetola, Senator Ajibola Basiru, and Alhaji Bola Oyebamiji,” he added.
