The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Osun State Council, has directed all its affiliate unions across the state to embark on a three-day solidarity strike over the continued withholding of statutory allocations meant for Local Government Areas.

The directive, dated November 7, 2026, was issued in support of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) following the expiration of a seven-day ultimatum given to the Federal and Osun State Governments to address the dispute.

The Congress expressed dissatisfaction that the issues raised in its demands remained unresolved despite the expiration of the ultimatum.
According to the directive, the industrial action will commence at midnight on Sunday, November 8, and end at midnight on Wednesday, November 11, 2026.
The decision was reached following resolutions adopted at an emergency meeting of the NLC State Executive Council held on October 28, 2026.
The Congress said it had exhausted all reasonable avenues to resolve the dispute before deciding to mobilise its affiliate unions for the three-day industrial action.
The strike is expected to affect activities across the state as organised labour intensifies pressure over the release of statutory allocations to local government councils.
