President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Vice President Kashim Shettima on his 60th birthday, describing him as a trusted ally, patriot and dedicated public servant.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, President Tinubu said Shettima’s life had been defined by service, commitment and sacrifice for worthy causes.
The President also rejoiced with the Vice President’s wife, Nana, children, family members and political associates on the milestone.
Tinubu commended Shettima’s distinguished banking career and record of service to Borno State and Nigeria, noting his commitment to national progress and unity.
He praised the Vice President’s years of public service, first as Governor of Borno State and now as Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, saying Shettima had demonstrated courage, diligence, compassion and a commitment to improving the lives of Nigerians.
The President also acknowledged Shettima’s loyalty to the All Progressives Congress and his dedication to the success of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
According to Tinubu, Shettima has provided purposeful leadership as Chairman of the National Economic Council, particularly in coordinating economic policy and fostering collaboration between the Federal Government and sub-national governments.
“As a trusted partner, his loyalty, wisdom and sense of duty have remained invaluable to the administration,” the President said.
Tinubu thanked the Vice President for his steadfast support and partnership, expressing confidence that both leaders would continue to make meaningful progress in building the Nigeria of their dreams.
The President prayed for Allah to continue to guide, protect and strengthen Shettima, granting him wisdom, good health and many more years of purposeful service to Nigeria.
