Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has dismissed claims that northern Nigeria is opposed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, expressing confidence that the President will secure overwhelming support in Kaduna State in the 2027 presidential election.
Sani predicted that Tinubu could receive as much as 80 per cent of the votes cast in Kaduna during the 2027 election, arguing that the President’s policies and performance had continued to attract support across the North.
The governor made the prediction while speaking on the political situation in the country and the growing activities ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to him, the perception that the North has turned against the Tinubu administration does not reflect the political reality on the ground.
Sani said northern Nigerians were capable of distinguishing between political rhetoric and the actual impact of government policies, stressing that the region remained an important constituency in the country’s political calculations.
He maintained that the Federal Government’s interventions in areas such as infrastructure, economic development and social programmes would influence voters as the 2027 elections approach.
The Kaduna governor also pointed to what he described as the administration’s efforts to address some of the challenges confronting Nigerians, saying such measures would strengthen support for the President.
Sani’s prediction comes as political parties and aspirants intensify preparations for the 2027 elections, with the North expected to play a significant role in determining the outcome of the presidential contest.
The governor’s comments are particularly significant given Kaduna’s strategic position in northern politics and its large voting population.
While acknowledging that there are concerns among Nigerians over economic hardship and other national challenges, Sani maintained that such concerns should not be interpreted as a total rejection of the President by the North.
He expressed confidence that the electorate would assess the administration’s record before making their choice at the polls.
The governor’s projection of an 80 per cent vote for Tinubu in Kaduna, however, remains a political prediction and will ultimately be tested by the outcome of the 2027 presidential election.
As the election draws closer, political parties are expected to intensify their campaigns and mobilisation efforts across Kaduna and other northern states, with the region likely to remain a major battleground in the race for the presidency.
