Street-pop singer Seyi Vibez has deleted social media posts concerning celebrity chef Hilda Baci after receiving a legal warning threatening a lawsuit over alleged defamatory statements.

The development comes amid an ongoing dispute between the singer and his former record label, Dapper Music, owned by music executive Damilola Akinwunmi, popularly known as Dapper.
The controversy intensified after Seyi Vibez, alongside former Dapper Music artistes Shallipopi and T.I Blaze, publicly accused the label of royalty-related disputes and alleged that funds running into N1 billion were unaccounted for.
During the exchange on X, Seyi Vibez made allegations involving Hilda Baci, who is reportedly in a relationship with Dapper. The singer alleged that the music executive used money generated from their music catalogue to finance Hilda Baci’s cosmetic surgery.
He also made disparaging comments about the celebrity chef’s food business.
Hilda Baci subsequently responded through her lawyers, who issued a cease-and-desist letter to the singer.
In the letter, the lawyers described Seyi Vibez’s publications as defamatory and demanded that he immediately remove the posts and issue a public apology and retraction.
“We hereby demand that upon receipt of this letter, you immediately remove and permanently delete the above referenced publications together with any other statement, post, comment, image, video and repost,” the lawyers stated.
They further demanded that the singer publish a clear and unequivocal apology across all his social media platforms.
“Issue a clear and unequivocal public apology and retraction in respect of the offending publications, to be published prominently and contemporaneously across all your social media accounts,” the letter added.
Following the legal warning, Seyi Vibez deleted the posts referencing Hilda Baci from his social media accounts.
However, as of the time of filing this report, the singer had yet to issue the public apology and retraction demanded by Hilda Baci’s legal representatives.
The dispute is part of a broader fallout between Seyi Vibez and Dapper Music.
Seyi Vibez signed with Dapper Music in 2022 before announcing his departure from the label in September 2024. Since his exit, the singer has described himself as an “Independent artist.”
The disagreement between the former label and some of its former artistes has continued to generate reactions within Nigeria’s music industry, particularly over allegations concerning royalties, catalogue earnings and financial accountability.
