The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Federal Operations Unit, Zone A, Ikeja-Lagos, has intercepted 220 consignments of prohibited and smuggled goods valued at N3.23 billion in duty-paid value.

The Customs also said it recovered N728.9 million in revenue during an eight-week enforcement operation aimed at curbing smuggling and protecting Nigeria’s economic interests.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Chief Superintendent of Customs Hussaini Abdullahi, disclosed this in a statement on Monday.

According to Abdullahi, the seizures were recorded through intensified enforcement activities, including risk profiling, compliance checks and targeted operations against suspicious consignments.

He said the operation demonstrated the unit’s commitment to protecting local industries, safeguarding government revenue and ensuring that Nigeria’s trade corridors remain free of prohibited goods.

“The Nigeria Customs Service, Federal Operations Unit, Zone A, Ikeja-Lagos, has intercepted 220 consignments of prohibited and smuggled goods valued at N3.23bn in duty-paid value, while clawing back N728.9m,” Abdullahi stated.

The Customs Service said the latest enforcement drive further underscores its determination to frustrate smuggling activities and strengthen compliance across the nation’s trade routes.
