The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has alleged that Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State was misled by politicians who encouraged him to engage in the prolonged political crisis that rocked the state.

Wike, who served as Governor of Rivers State before his appointment as FCT Minister, made the remarks on Saturday during a special media chat in Port Harcourt.

According to the minister, those who allegedly instigated Fubara against him lacked the political strength and capacity to sustain the confrontation, adding that the governor overestimated their influence.

“Unfortunately, they used Fubara. To tell you the truth, the governor overrated them. They had no capacity at all to fight, and they eventually realized it,” Wike said.

He further claimed that the same individuals who encouraged the governor to challenge his former political camp have now turned against him following his decision to reconcile with his political family.

According to Wike, the politicians are now criticizing and insulting Governor Fubara because they no longer have the opportunity to benefit from the situation.

“Now, when the governor decided to return to his political family, go and see how they are abusing him. Because there is no longer an opportunity to siphon money, they are abusing him,” he stated.

The former Rivers governor maintained that the political crisis was fueled by individuals pursuing personal interests rather than the development of the state, insisting that those who encouraged the conflict lacked the capacity to sustain it once events unfolded.
