President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has described the Hausa people as important pillars of Nigeria’s unity and development, praising their contributions to the country’s social, cultural and economic growth.

The President stated this in a message congratulating the Hausa community on the occasion of Hausa Day, being celebrated today at the historic Daura Palace in Katsina State.

According to President Tinubu, the Hausa people have continued to play a significant role in strengthening the bonds of unity among Nigerians, while their language has grown beyond its traditional communities to become an important means of communication, commerce and cultural exchange.

“The Hausa people are great pillars that play a vital role in the unity and progress of Nigeria,” the President said.

He further noted that the Hausa language has flourished over the years, gaining widespread acceptance and becoming one of the major languages of communication and commerce across Nigeria and other parts of the world.

“The Hausa language, without doubt, has flourished and has become a major language of unity and commerce across the world,” Tinubu added.

The President extended his congratulations and goodwill to the vast Hausa community as they mark the special occasion, which is being celebrated at the historic Daura Palace.

The choice of Daura for the celebration further underscores the deep historical and cultural significance of the ancient Hausa city, which is widely regarded as one of the historic centres of Hausa civilisation.

Hausa Day provides an opportunity to celebrate the rich heritage, language, traditions and cultural identity of the Hausa people, while also highlighting their contributions to Nigeria and the wider African community.

President Tinubu’s message also reflects the importance of cultural diversity in Nigeria, a country made up of numerous ethnic groups and languages whose shared heritage continues to shape the nation’s identity.

The President wished the Hausa community a successful celebration and reaffirmed the importance of unity, cultural understanding and peaceful coexistence among Nigeria’s diverse peoples.

“I congratulate the vast Hausa community on the occasion of Hausa Day, which is being celebrated at the historic Daura Palace today.”
