A 60-year-old man, identified as Tajudeen Yusuf, was reportedly shot dead in Osogbo, Osun State, on Wednesday following a clash between some hoodlums and the security team attached to Afrobeats singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido.

The Osun State Police Command confirmed the incident, saying the shooting occurred shortly after some hoodlums allegedly attempted to gain access to Davido during his visit to the palace of the Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Olanipekun.

Davido was at the palace alongside Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, who had visited the monarch to present his certificate of return following his victory in the August 15 governorship election.

According to the police, trouble reportedly started when some individuals attempted to force their way towards the singer, leading to a confrontation with his security personnel.

During the ensuing chaos, Yusuf was allegedly shot.

The police command said investigations had commenced to establish the circumstances surrounding the shooting and identify those responsible.

The incident has heightened concerns over security during public appearances involving high-profile personalities and political figures in the state.

Authorities are expected to provide further details as the investigation progresses.
