The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Osun State, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO, has expressed confidence in his ability to defeat Governor Ademola Adeleke in the August 15, 2026 governorship election.

Oyebamiji dismissed claims that his major strength in the election was the alleged backing of the Federal Government, insisting that his confidence was based on the support he had received from residents across the state.
The APC candidate made the remarks on Tuesday while appearing on the Arise Townhall, where he responded to allegations by opposition parties that his campaign was relying on “federal might” to secure victory.
Oyebamiji said he had embarked on extensive consultations across Osun State and was convinced that the people were ready for a change in leadership.
According to him, he had visited more than 30 local government areas in the state on three different occasions as part of his consultations and campaign activities.
“I have visited 30-plus local government areas in Osun State three times. Nobody has ever done that,” Oyebamiji said.
He explained that his first round of visits was aimed at consulting APC members on their readiness to take over the state government, adding that the response he received was overwhelming.
Oyebamiji said subsequent visits involved the inauguration of campaign canvassers and further mobilisation across the local governments.
He added that he also engaged community leaders, artisans, market associations, civil servants and other stakeholders during his consultations.
The APC candidate said the engagements strengthened his belief that Osun residents were prepared for a change of government.
“After that, I was convinced beyond doubt that our people in Osun are ready for a change,” he said.
Oyebamiji further stated that his expected victory would not be determined by the influence of the Federal Government or any political force, but by the choice of the electorate.
“By the special grace of God, I’m coming in as the governor of Osun come 15th of August 2026. It is not by any power, whether it is a national power or mighty power, it is by the people,” he said.
He also disclosed that his campaign had received endorsements from about 42 sectors and groups across the state within the past two months.
The August 15 governorship election is expected to be a major contest between Oyebamiji of the APC and the incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke, with other candidates also seeking to secure the governorship seat.
