The House of Representatives has passed a Bill to establish the Nigerian Employees’ Compensation Trust Fund Agency to serve as a safety net for workers.

The proposed Agency when established will ensure adequate compensation for workers who suffer death, injury, disease or disability arising from workplace hazards in the course of duty.
Passage of the Bill by the House secures concurrence with the Senate, which has also passed the legislation, paving the way for its transmission to the President for assent.
Other bills passed at Tuesday’s plenary include one to establish the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission Institute as a centre for training and research, and another to amend the EFCC Act.
A proposal to establish the National School of Government as an institution for leadership development and policy delivery also scaled second reading.
