President of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, has reacted to the wave of memes making the rounds online after Nigerians became shareholders in the Dangote Petroleum Refinery.

Dangote joked that some of the new shareholders had already started calling for a board meeting, as excitement grows among investors following the refinery’s share offering.
He also disclosed that the Dangote Group is targeting 2028 to list its fertiliser business on the Nigerian stock market, giving investors another opportunity to own a stake in one of the conglomerate’s major businesses.
Dangote made the disclosure on Sunday during an interview at the Qatar Economic Forum while discussing the ownership structure of his businesses and the group’s plans to bring more investors into its operations.
According to him, the group had traditionally operated its businesses without partners but was now opening up its major companies to wider ownership through the capital market.
The planned fertiliser IPO would follow the Dangote Petroleum Refinery’s move to bring more Nigerians into its ownership structure, further expanding opportunities for local investors to participate in the group’s businesses.
