A Magistrates’ Court sitting in Kano State has ordered the remand of a 25-year-old woman, Maimuna Idris, over an alleged attack on her boyfriend, Ashiru Sani, that reportedly left him with severe injuries.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Idris, who resides in Maigatari Local Government Area of Jigawa State, is facing a two-count charge of attempted culpable homicide and causing grievous hurt.

The prosecution, led by H.A. Sani-Buhari, told the court that the incident occurred on July 27 at Badawa Quarters in Kano.

The prosecutor said the Badawa Police Division received a report at about 12:50 p.m. from the management of Durbar Hotel, Badawa, alleging that Idris had attacked Sani with a sharp object during an altercation.

Sani was subsequently taken to Abubakar Imam Urology Hospital in Kano for medical attention.

Idris pleaded guilty to the charges when they were read to her in court.

The prosecution said the alleged offences contravene Sections 229 and 248 of the Penal Code.

Following the proceedings, Magistrate Sadiya Usman ordered that Idris be remanded in a correctional centre and adjourned the case until September 9, 2026, for further mention.
