Former Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, has been thrown into mourning following the death of her husband, Anthony Adeniyi Adeosun, who passed away at the age of 62.

The Adeosun family announced his passing in a statement released on Thursday, revealing that Anthony, popularly known as Niyi, died in Lagos on Tuesday, August 5, 2026, after a life devoted to God, his family and service to humanity.

The statement, signed by Reverend C. A. Adeosun on behalf of the family, described the late businessman as a man of integrity, generosity and unwavering Christian faith whose life positively impacted everyone who came in contact with him.

According to the family, Anthony Adeosun was widely respected for his commitment to hard work, his dedication to his family and his passion for serving his community. They noted that his exemplary character and steadfast faith earned him admiration among friends, associates and business partners.

He is survived by his wife, Kemi Adeosun, their children, siblings and other members of the extended Adeosun family, including renowned investment executive Adewale Adeosun, founder of Kuramo Capital.

While mourning the loss, the family expressed confidence in the Christian hope of eternal life, quoting Revelation 14:13 to celebrate the life and legacy of the deceased. They also appealed to the public to respect their privacy during this period of grief, adding that details of the funeral and burial arrangements would be announced in due course.

Kemi Adeosun served as Nigeria’s Minister of Finance from 2015 to 2018 under the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari. Before joining the Federal Executive Council, she was Commissioner for Finance in Ogun State and played a key role in implementing fiscal reforms during her time in public office.

Tributes have continued to pour in from political leaders, business associates and well-wishers, who have expressed condolences to the former minister and prayed for the peaceful repose of Anthony Adeosun’s soul.
