The Lagos State chapter of the Allied People’s Movement (APM) has urged opposition political parties to rally behind Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, as a consensus presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.
According to the party, Makinde possesses the leadership qualities, governance experience and broad national appeal needed to unite the opposition and provide Nigerians with a credible alternative ahead of the next presidential election.
The Lagos APM maintained that adopting a single candidate would strengthen the opposition’s chances of challenging the ruling party in 2027, stressing that Makinde’s record in Oyo State has earned him support across political divides.
The party also said it was intensifying consultations with political stakeholders and opposition groups nationwide to build a formidable coalition around the Oyo governor’s presidential ambition.
The call comes amid growing discussions over possible alliances and coalition-building among opposition parties ahead of the 2027 general election
