The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has banned the use of green areas within the nation’s capital as makeshift car parks.

Wike announced the directive as part of efforts to protect the Abuja Master Plan and preserve designated green spaces across the Federal Capital Territory.
The minister warned individuals and businesses against converting green areas meant for landscaping and environmental purposes into parking spaces.
He directed relevant FCT authorities to enforce the ban and ensure that designated green areas are restored and protected from further encroachment.
Wike reiterated the commitment of the FCT Administration to maintaining the city’s planned layout, improving its aesthetics and ensuring compliance with approved land-use regulations.
