President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Senator Adeola Solomon Olamilekan, popularly known as “Yayi,” on his birthday, describing his emergence as the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Ogun State as a testament to his years of service and achievements.

Tinubu, in a birthday message issued on Monday, August 10, 2026, praised Olamilekan for his contributions to public service in Ogun and Lagos states, as well as his service to Nigeria.
The President described the senator as a dedicated public servant and dependable political ally, noting his contributions to democratic governance and national development.
Tinubu said Olamilekan’s overwhelming nomination as the APC flagbearer for the forthcoming Ogun State governorship election reflected the confidence party members have in his record and political accomplishments.
“Your overwhelming nomination as the APC flagbearer for the Ogun State governorship is a testament to your good works and achievements,” the President said.
He also commended Olamilekan for his role in the National Assembly, particularly his contributions to budgetary processes and legislation, as well as his efforts toward strengthening cooperation between the Executive and Legislature.
Tinubu further acknowledged the senator’s commitment to policies aimed at improving the welfare of Nigerians and advancing the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Olamilekan, who represents Ogun West Senatorial District in the Senate, is expected to lead the APC into the next Ogun State governorship election as the party’s candidate.
