Global music star Rihanna has revealed that she has around 170 unreleased songs stored away as fans continue to wait for her ninth studio album.

The 38-year-old singer made the revelation during a TikTok Live for Fenty Beauty, offering a rare glimpse into the amount of music she has recorded during her lengthy break from releasing a full-length project.
“If there are 10 products in a vault, then I have at least 17 vaults,” Rihanna said while discussing her unreleased music.
Her comment suggests she has accumulated about 170 unreleased songs since the release of her last studio album, ANTI, in 2016.
The disclosure comes as anticipation continues to build around Rihanna’s long-awaited ninth album.
Although she has not released a full studio project in a decade, the singer has repeatedly indicated that she has not abandoned music.
In August, her partner A$AP Rocky revealed that Rihanna was back in the studio working on new material.
“She in the studio right now. Yeah, I said it. Sorry, babe,” Rocky said.
“Bro, she working. She cooking, no funny s—. Damn, I’mma get in trouble for this.”
Rihanna had previously said she had finally found the direction she wanted for her next album after years of experimenting with different sounds.
“This much time away from music needs to count for the next thing everyone hears,” she said.
“It has to count. It has to matter. I have to show them the worth in the wait. I cannot put up anything mediocre.”
She has also warned fans not to expect a conventional commercial project.
“It’s not going to be anything that anybody expects,” Rihanna said.
“And it’s not going to be commercial or radio digestible. It’s going to be where my artistry deserves to be right now.”
Despite not releasing a new album since ANTI, Rihanna has continued to put out individual songs.
She released “Lift Me Up” for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever in 2022 and “Friend of Mine” for The Smurfs soundtrack in 2025.
Rihanna has also remained active in fashion and beauty through Fenty Beauty and Savage X Fenty while occasionally returning to the stage.
Her latest revelation, however, is likely to intensify speculation over how much unreleased material could eventually make it onto her long-awaited next album.
