The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, has called on Christians to actively participate in governance by supporting leaders with integrity, competence and a genuine commitment to public service, rather than voting based on sentiment.
Oyebamiji made the appeal during a worship service at the Redeem Breakthrough Cathedral, Region 43 Headquarters of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), where he worshipped alongside members of the Coalition of Maritime Journalists of Nigeria.
The APC flag-bearer also sought prayers for peaceful and credible governorship elections in Osun State, stressing the need for unity and divine guidance as the state prepares for the 2026 poll.
Speaking to the congregation, Oyebamiji expressed appreciation for the warm reception he received and thanked God for His faithfulness over his life, family, Osun State and Nigeria.
Quoting Proverbs 14:34, which says, โRighteousness exalts a nation,โ he emphasised that the Church has a critical role in promoting good governance through prayers, civic participation and the promotion of responsible leadership.
He noted that the responsibility of citizens extends beyond voting during elections, urging the electorate to continually demand accountability from elected officials and ensure that public resources are used for the benefit of all.
Drawing inspiration from biblical figures including Joseph, Daniel and King David, Oyebamiji said enduring leadership is founded on wisdom, integrity and selfless service.
The former Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) pledged that, if elected governor, his administration would uphold transparency, fairness, equity and justice while ensuring inclusive governance for every resident of Osun State.
โI have come to worship with you today, and I sincerely appreciate the warm reception I have received. If entrusted with the responsibility of governing Osun State, I will lead with fairness, equity and respect for all. I also humbly solicit your prayers for peaceful elections in our state,โ he said.
Oyebamiji also commended the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Enoch Adeboye, for his decades of spiritual leadership and commitment to biblical teachings, which he said have transformed countless lives in Nigeria and beyond.
He equally praised the Regional Pastor, Mrs. Matthew Oluyinka, for her dedication to the growth of the church and service to the Christian community in Osogbo.
The visit is part of Oyebamijiโs ongoing consultations with faith-based organisations and other key stakeholders as he intensifies engagements ahead of the 2026 Osun State governorship election.
