The Mining Marshals have commended the Nigerian Army for its support in the fight against illegal mining activities in Nigeria.

The commendation followed the handover of suspected illegal miners arrested by the military to the Mining Marshals for further investigation and prosecution.
The Mining Marshals described the collaboration as a significant step towards strengthening enforcement efforts and tackling illegal mining across the country.
The agency noted that illegal mining poses serious threats to Nigeria’s economy, environment and national security, stressing the need for sustained cooperation among security agencies and relevant government institutions.
The Mining Marshals also urged members of the public to support the government’s efforts by providing credible information on illegal mining activities in their communities.
The development underscores the growing collaboration between security agencies and mining authorities in the government’s efforts to sanitise the mining sector and ensure that mineral resources are exploited legally and responsibly.
