Troops of Operation Fansan Yamma have rescued four kidnap victims in separate operations in Zamfara and Kebbi states as the military steps up efforts to tackle insecurity in the North-West.

The victims were freed on Wednesday in operations conducted in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State and between Bena and Sawade in Kebbi State.
The spokesman for the 8 Division, Sector 2, Lt Col Olaniyi Osoba, disclosed the development on Thursday.
Osoba said two of the victims, Mansur Shehu, 25, and Kadijat Haruna, 49, were rescued from a farmland in Binoni Marafa, Maru Local Government Area.
“In Zamfara State, troops rescued Mansur Shehu, aged 25, and Kadijat Haruna, aged 49, from a farmland in Binoni Marafa during the operation,” he said.
In a separate operation in Kebbi State, soldiers rescued Jimoh Su-Arege, 35, and Kalahe Danjuma, 41, after receiving information about suspected terrorists moving with abductees.
According to Osoba, the operation followed reports of suspected terrorists transporting kidnap victims from Dipindu village in Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
“Following the report, troops moved to the area and successfully rescued the two victims, who were subsequently handed over to the Seriki of Dipindu,” he added.
Osoba said the military had sustained patrols and surveillance across its areas of responsibility to restrict the movement of criminal groups and forestall further attacks.
He reiterated the military’s resolve to protect lives and property, particularly in communities facing kidnapping and other security threats across the North-West.
The rescues form part of ongoing military operations aimed at curbing criminal activities and improving security in vulnerable communities in Zamfara and Kebbi states.
