The Osun State Police Command has attributed the recent killings and violence in parts of the state to hoodlums, as former Governor of Osun State and Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, called for decisive action to restore peace and protect residents.

The development has raised fresh concerns over the security situation in the state, particularly following reports of attacks that resulted in the loss of lives and injuries to some residents.
The police command said it was taking steps to address the situation and apprehend those responsible for the violence. Security personnel have also been urged to intensify patrols and intelligence gathering in areas considered vulnerable to further attacks.
The command appealed to members of the public to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies by providing credible information that could assist investigators in identifying and arresting the perpetrators.
Reacting to the killings, Oyetola condemned the violence and described the loss of innocent lives as disturbing and unacceptable.
The former governor called on security agencies to take decisive measures against individuals and groups responsible for acts of violence, stressing that perpetrators should not be allowed to operate with impunity.
Oyetola also urged the government to strengthen security measures across the state and ensure adequate protection for residents, businesses and communities.
He maintained that protecting lives and property should remain a major responsibility of government, particularly at a time when security concerns could undermine economic and social activities.
The former governor further appealed for greater collaboration among security agencies, traditional institutions, community leaders and residents to prevent further attacks and ensure the swift identification of criminal elements.
The recent incidents have continued to generate reactions across Osun, with stakeholders calling for stronger security arrangements and improved intelligence gathering to prevent a recurrence.
Meanwhile, the police have assured residents that efforts would continue to restore normalcy and bring those behind the killings to justice.
Residents have also been encouraged to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements or activities to the appropriate security authorities as investigations into the incidents continue.
