Former Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has described the judiciary as a critical institution for citizens seeking justice, saying the court should remain the ultimate sanctuary for people whose rights have been violated.

Fubara made the remarks while stressing the importance of an independent and credible judiciary in protecting citizens and upholding the rule of law.

He said Nigerians must be able to approach the courts with confidence whenever they feel their rights have been infringed upon, noting that justice should be accessible to everyone regardless of status or political affiliation.

The former governor emphasised that the strength of democracy depends largely on respect for the rule of law and the ability of judicial institutions to dispense justice fairly.

Fubara urged stakeholders to protect the integrity and independence of the judiciary, saying citizens must continue to have faith in the courts as a legitimate avenue for resolving disputes and seeking redress.

He maintained that when the judiciary functions effectively and independently, it strengthens public confidence in democratic institutions and promotes peaceful resolution of conflicts.

Fubara said the courts must remain a safe and trusted avenue where citizens can pursue justice without fear or favour.
