The Paramount Ruler of Iwoland, Oba AbdulrosheeAdewale Akanbi, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving the reconstruction of the Osogbo-Iwo-Ibadan and Gbongan-Akoda roads, describing the intervention as one that has “turned my tears to joy.”
He spoke at the flag-off ceremony of the two road projects, where he also praised the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola; the Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi; and the APC governorship candidate in Osun State, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji AMBO, for their roles in facilitating the projects.
Speaking on behalf of over 35 traditional rulers in Iwoland at the flag-off ceremony held at Aje International market, Osogbo, osun state capital today, the Oluwo expressed gratitude to President Tinubu and reaffirmed their support for his re-election bid in 2027.
Oba Akanbi said the Osogbo-Iwo-Ibadan road had been in a deplorable state for over 13 years, severely affecting economic activities, commuters, and communities along the corridor. He noted that the situation once compelled him when he was enthroned to personally fund palliative repairs using cement to keep the road passable.
He said the Federal Government’s approval of the reconstruction, particularly the adoption of a concrete pavement design, marked a long-awaited relief and a durable solution that would serve future generations.
Reaffirming his support for the administration, the paramount ruler commended key federal policies, including local government autonomy and the Nigerian Education Loan Fund NELFUND, describing them as reforms that would strengthen grassroots governance and expand access to education.
He urged Nigerians, especially students, to continue supporting President Tinubu’s administration and its development agenda ahead of 2027.
The Oluwo also called on Yoruba traditional rulers to unite in backing the APC, saying the administration had demonstrated commitment to infrastructure development and national progress.
He declared that his support remains firmly with President Tinubu and any candidate endorsed by him, adding that his palace would not host politicians opposed to the President’s agenda.
